NEW STARBUCKS REWARDSTM/MC TERMS OF USE

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR PARTICIPATING IN THE STARBUCKS REWARDS PROGRAM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF USE AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS OF USE, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE STARBUCKS REWARDS PROGRAM.

These Terms of Use apply to your access to, and participation in, the Starbucks Rewards program (“Starbucks Rewards”) which is operated by Starbucks Corporation, Starbucks Coffee Canada, Inc. or their respective subsidiaries, licensees and affiliated companies (collectively, “Starbucks”) in Canada. These Terms of Use do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Starbucks for other products and services, such as Starbucks Cards.

Unless otherwise required by law, Starbucks reserves the right to change, modify and/or eliminate Starbucks Rewards and/or all or any portion of these Terms of Use or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to Starbucks Rewards in accordance with this provision in its sole discretion. In the event these Terms of Use are amended, we will post the amended terms and conditions on our website. If the amendment entails an increase in your obligations or a reduction in our obligations, you may refuse the amendment and rescind, or cancel your participation in Starbucks Rewards without cost, penalty or cancellation indemnity, by sending us notice to that effect no later than thirty (30) days after the amendment comes into force, at the address or email address indicated in the notice. Your continued participation in Starbucks Rewards following any applicable notice period confirms your acceptance of these Terms of Use and any such changes or modifications; therefore, you should review these Terms of Use and applicable policies and FAQs frequently to understand the terms and conditions that apply to Starbucks Rewards. If you do not agree to the Terms of Use, you must stop participating in Starbucks Rewards.

The Starbucks Rewards program is intended for personal use only. Commercial use is prohibited. This program is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 13. If you are between the ages of 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence, you may only use Starbucks Rewards under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use.

Please read the Privacy Statement carefully to understand how Starbucks collects, uses and discloses information about customers and how to update or change your personal information and how we communicate with you.

Starbucks Rewards is one way in which Starbucks endeavors to reward and thank loyal customers for patronizing our business, and purchasing Starbucks®, Teavana®, and Evolution FreshTM/MC products. Members of Starbucks Rewards are able to earn and accumulate “Stars” that can be redeemed for Starbucks Rewards benefits, also known as “Rewards,” at participating Starbucks®, Teavana® and Evolution FreshTM/MC stores in Canada, the U.S., and Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, not all stores have the ability to award Stars or honour Rewards at this time. Visit the Store Locator at www.starbucks.ca/store-locator to find the location nearest you where you can earn Stars or redeem Rewards.

JOINING STARBUCKS REWARDS

There are four (4) ways to enroll in Starbucks Rewards and begin accumulating Stars:

  1. If you have a physical Starbucks Card, or Starbucks Card eGift, visit www.starbucks.ca/rewards. Follow the prompts to create an account and register at least one (1) physical Starbucks Card, or Starbucks Card eGift. The minimum balance required to activate a physical Starbucks Card, or Starbucks Card eGift is Five Dollars ($5.00).
  2. Download the Starbucks mobile app to your Android™ or iPhone® device. Follow the prompts to create an account and register a digital Starbucks Card.
  3. Beginning in summer, 2016, purchase a specially marked Starbucks® product from a participating grocery retailer and enter the Star code located on, or if indicated, inside the packaging at www.starbucks.ca/rewards. Follow the prompts to create an account and select a Starbucks Card.
  4. Join Starbucks Rewards through a special promotion or membership program that may be offered by Starbucks and/or our business affiliates from time to time. There may be additional terms and conditions applicable to these offers, so please read them carefully.

Starbucks Cards may include: physical Starbucks, Teavana, and Evolution Fresh branded plastic cards that are available for sale from participating Starbucks, Teavana, and Evolution Fresh stores, and also sold from other retail locations (for example, gift card “malls” or kiosks); digital forms of the physical cards that are available through the Starbucks mobile app; and Starbucks Card eGifts that can be purchased at www.starbucks.ca/shop/card/egift. The registration process may require that you provide the following information: username, password, email address (required in order to receive all eligible Rewards), physical address, telephone number, Starbucks Card number, and card security code (CSC), birthday, name, and marketing preferences. All of your Starbucks Cards can be activated and registered for use in Starbucks Rewards, but you may only have one (1) account that is personal to you.

If you change your account address to one that is not located within Canada, your Starbucks Cards will continue to function, but your account will be inactivated. You will no longer be able to earn Stars or receive or redeem benefits under your Canada Starbucks Rewards account. Previously earned Stars may expire as described below.

EARNING STARS

The benefits that are available to you through Starbucks Rewards are based on the number of “Stars” that you earn. You can earn Stars by making purchases using any Starbucks Card registered to your account to pay at participating Starbucks, Teavana, and Evolution Fresh stores in Canada, the U.S., Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and Ireland, and on http://store.starbucks.ca/ and www.teavana.ca.

You will earn Stars based on the value of your purchase at the rate of two (2) Stars for each One Dollar ($1.00) you spend using your registered Starbucks Card. If you are a Starbucks partner (an employee of Starbucks Coffee Canada, Inc.), you will earn Stars at the rate of three (3) Stars for each One Dollar ($1.00) you spend using any registered Starbucks Card so long as you have registered your “partner” Starbucks Card to the same account. Some exclusions apply. For example, you cannot earn Stars on purchases of alcoholic beverages or on Starbucks Cards (including activations, reloads, transfers, or any other card-to-card transaction). Taxes, tips, donations, and fees, including without limitation, shipping and handling fees, gift wrapping fees, delivery fees, and bag fees, may also be excluded and ineligible for Star accrual. Stars may be earned and awarded in fractional amounts depending on the value of your purchase. If your account is established in Canada, any purchase made using your registered Starbucks Card at participating stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom or Ireland, will earn Stars as if the currency were expressed in Canadian Dollars. No currency exchange is applied to the value of your purchase for the purpose of determining how many Stars you have earned. For example, if the value of your purchase is One U.S. Dollar or One Pound Sterling (United Kingdom), you will earn two (2) Stars.

Generally, Stars for qualifying purchases from participating stores are automatically added to your account within twenty-four (24) hours. Stars for qualifying purchases from http://store.starbucks.ca/ and www.teavana.ca are typically added to your account within twenty-four (24) hours after your order ships. From time to time, we, or others acting with our permission, may offer you special promotions that offer you “Promotional Stars.” Promotional Stars, such as “bonus” Stars, will be awarded as described in the applicable promotional offer and will be subject to any additional terms set forth in the promotional offer.

Beginning in summer, 2016, you can also earn Stars by entering Star codes at www.starbucks.ca/rewards. Star codes may be found on or inside specially marked packages of Starbucks branded products sold by other retailers such as grocery stores. Star codes may, from time to time, be distributed through promotional materials. The amount of Stars awarded using Star codes may vary by product and price. Certain limitations may apply to Star codes. For example, there may be a limit on the number of Star codes that you can enter on a daily basis, and Star codes have expiration dates. Check the product packaging and/or promotional materials for specific restrictions applicable to a particular Star code.

If you void a purchase made with your registered Starbucks Card, Starbucks will deduct the Stars that you were awarded for that purchase, potentially resulting in a negative Star balance on your account. If you return merchandise or packaged coffee, food and tea that you purchased with your registered Starbucks Card (note: an original receipt or gift receipt is required), your funds will be returned to you on a Starbucks or Teavana store credit card, but Starbucks will not deduct Stars from your account. Starbucks or Teavana store credit cards may be used in any participating Starbucks, Teavana or Evolution Fresh store, but they are not Starbucks Cards. For example, store credit cards do not accrue Stars and cannot be registered or reloaded for additional value.

If you use multiple forms of payment in one transaction, such as cash, credit card, or an unregistered Starbucks Card, the registered Starbucks Card that you use will be awarded a prorated number of Stars based on the eligible purchase amount that was applied to your registered Starbucks Card.

STARBUCKS REWARDS LEVELS

Currently, there are two (2) levels of benefits within Starbucks Rewards that are determined by the number of Stars that you accumulate in your account each year. By opening an account and registering a Starbucks Card, you will be automatically enrolled in Starbucks Rewards at the Green Level. If you earn at least three hundred (300) Stars within the twelve (12) month period following your enrollment date, you will qualify for the Gold Level.

Once you reach a specific level within Starbucks Rewards, you will receive the benefits that are applicable to that level at that time. However, you must continue to earn and accumulate Stars in order to maintain your benefit level.

To maintain all benefits of the Green Level, you must earn at least one (1) new Star during each consecutive 12-month period following your enrollment date. If you do not earn at least one (1) new Star in each 12-month period, your Star balance will automatically reset to zero (0) and you may no longer be eligible to receive Starbucks Rewards benefits. If you do not earn at least three hundred (300) new Stars in each consecutive 12- month period, your Stars will expire and your Star balance will automatically reset to zero (0).

To maintain the Gold Level, you must earn at least three hundred (300) new Stars during each consecutive 12-month period following the date you reached the Gold Level. If you do not earn 300 new Stars in 12 months, you will be placed at the Green Level of Starbucks Rewards and your Star balance will automatically reset to zero (0). If you fail to requalify for the Gold Level, and you have between 125 and 299 Stars in your account, Starbucks will add one (1) free food or drink Reward onto your account (subject to the Gold Level exclusions and restrictions described below). This Reward will be loaded onto your account on your requalification date and will be available for you to use at participating stores for a period of thirty (30) days. If you have provided Starbucks with a current, valid email address, you will receive an email from Starbucks approximately twenty-four (24) hours after the coupon is loaded to your account indicating that your Reward is available to you.

From time to time, Starbucks or its authorized business affiliates may offer special promotions that allow you to reach the Gold Level without requiring you to earn 300 Stars by making purchases in our stores.

You can view and track your Star balance and available Rewards on www.starbucks.ca/account or by using the Starbucks mobile app. Starbucks reserves the right to change the number of benefit levels and to change the benefits and Rewards associated with each level in its sole discretion at any time.

GREEN LEVEL REWARDS

By registering your Starbucks Card, you are automatically entered into the “Green Level” of Starbucks Rewards. Rewards may include:

  1. Birthday Reward. You will receive one (1) complimentary food or beverage item as described below:
    • Available at participating Starbucks stores – your choice of one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage (standard Starbucks menu sizes only*), OR one (1) complimentary food item, OR one (1) complimentary ready-to-drink bottled beverage such as an Evolution Fresh juice; OR
    • Available at participating Teavana stores - one (1) complimentary tea beverage (standard Teavana menu sizes only), OR a complimentary twenty-eight (28) gram serving of loose leaf tea; OR
    • Available at participating Evolution Fresh stores (located in the U.S. only) - your choice of one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage (standard Evolution Fresh menu sizes only), OR one (1) complimentary ready-to-drink Evolution Fresh bottled beverage.

      *Standard Starbucks menu menu sizes are: Short (8 fl. oz.), Tall (12 fl. oz.), Grande (16 fl. oz.), Venti® Hot (20 fl. oz.), Venti® Cold (24 fl. oz.) and Trenta®** Cold (30 fl. oz.). **Trenta is only available for Shaken Iced Tea, Shaken Iced Tea Lemonade, Iced Coffee, Cold Brew and Starbucks Refreshers®.

      The complimentary birthday Reward may be redeemed at participating stores and excludes: multi-serving food or beverage items (for example, a tray of Cranberry Bliss Bars or coffee press); and beverages that contain alcohol (for example, at Starbucks Evenings locations).

      Your complimentary birthday Reward will be automatically added to your account approximately two (2) days prior to your birthday. The offer for the free birthday Reward expires the day after your birthday. You must present your registered Starbucks Card to the barista at a participating store in order to redeem your Reward and receive your complimentary birthday item. You will receive only one (1) birthday Reward regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account.

      If you have provided Starbucks with a current, valid email address, you may receive a reminder email from Starbucks approximately one (1) to two (2) days prior to your birthday (that is, the birthday date of record that you provided in your Starbucks account information) indicating that your Reward is available to you. You can check to see if your birthday Reward is available by accessing your Starbucks Rewards account on www.starbucks.ca/account or on the Starbucks mobile app.

      Your birthday Reward email notification will also include a coupon code for 15% off the retail price of a single item at. http://store.starbucks.ca/. This coupon code will expire after thirty (30) days and cannot be combined with other offers or discounts. Some restrictions may apply.
  2. Free refill(s) of hot or iced brewed coffee and tea. You must use your registered Starbucks Card to purchase a beverage and then present that same Starbucks Card for refills of hot or iced brewed coffee or tea during the same store visit at participating Starbucks stores.
  3. Early or extended access to certain promotions and offers. Starbucks may offer Starbucks Rewards members early or extended access to special menu items or discounts. Members may take part in these offers by paying with their registered Starbucks Card at participating stores.
  4. Personalized offers and coupons. Special offers may be distributed by email, the Mobile Inbox on the Starbucks mobile app, or by physical mail. You must opt-in to receive promotional and marketing offers from Starbucks and may be required to provide a valid email, telephone and physical address in order to receive your special offers. Special offers may be customized based on purchase behaviors and preferences. Special offers may include periodic discounts on food, beverages and merchandise, or the opportunity to earn “bonus” Stars. Special offers may have certain restrictions including expiration dates and short, time-limited redemption periods. Special offers are personal to you and cannot be shared, copied or transferred. You may be required to present or pay with your registered Starbucks Card in order to redeem special offers. Read each offer carefully for specific details, expiration dates, limitations and restrictions, and to learn when bonus Stars will be awarded to your account.

GOLD LEVEL REWARDS

After you earn three hundred (300) Stars in a 12-month period, you reach the “Gold Level” and your Star balance is reset to zero (0). Any Stars, including fractional Stars, earned after reaching the Gold Level expire six (6) months after the calendar month in which they earned. For example, if you earn Stars on May 5, 2016, they will expire on December 1, 2016. Gold Level Rewards may include:

  1. Green Level Rewards.
  2. A personalized gold coloured Starbucks Card. In order to receive your personalized Starbucks Card, you must provide a valid physical mailing address in Canada. You can update your address by logging into your account at www.starbucks.ca/account. If you do not provide a valid physical mailing address, Starbucks will not be able to send you a personalized card. Processing and shipping time is approximately four to six weeks. You do not need to use your gold Starbucks Card to receive Gold Level benefits – you may use any Starbucks Card registered to your account. If you fail to maintain your Gold Level status, you may continue to use your personalized gold coloured Starbucks Card, but it will not convey any Gold Level benefits until you earn enough Stars to reach the Gold Level again.
  3. One (1) free drink or food item after every one hundred twenty-five (125) additional Stars earned after reaching the Gold Level. You can redeem 125 Stars for one (1) free food or beverage item after every 125 additional Stars earned above the three hundred (300) Stars you needed to reach the Gold Level:
    • Available at participating Starbucks stores – your choice of one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage (standard Starbucks menu sizes only*), OR one (1) complimentary food item, OR one (1) complimentary ready-to-drink bottled beverage such as an Evolution Fresh juice; OR
    • Available at participating Teavana stores - one (1) complimentary tea beverage (standard Teavana menu sizes only), OR a complimentary twenty-eight (28) gram serving of loose leaf tea; OR
    • Available at participating Evolution Fresh stores (located in the U.S. only) - your choice of one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage (standard Evolution Fresh menu sizes only), OR one (1) complimentary ready-to-drink Evolution Fresh bottled beverage.

      If you have provided Starbucks with a current, valid email address, you will receive a reminder email from Starbucks approximately twenty-four (24) hours after earning your 125th additional Star indicating that your Reward is available to you. Remember to redeem your Reward at a participating store before your Stars expire. The Stars that you earn after reaching the Gold Level – including fractional Stars - expire six (6) months after the calendar month in which they are earned. You can view and track your Star balance on www.starbucks.ca/account or by using the Starbucks mobile app.
  4. Double-Star Days. You are eligible for one (1) Double-Star Day once each calendar month beginning no later than five (5) weeks after you reach the Gold Level. Starbucks will notify you of your designated Double-Star Day each month which may vary from month to month and will be personalized and selected by Starbucks for you. You must opt-in to receive promotional and marketing offers from Starbucks and may be required to provide a valid email, telephone and physical address in order to receive notice of your designated day each month. On your designated Double-Star Day, the number of Stars you earn using your registered Starbucks Card at participating Starbucks, Teavana and Evolution Fresh stores will be multiplied by two (2). This Reward is not available for purchases made on www.store.starbucks.ca or www.teavana.ca. Starbucks reserves the right to exclude certain products and merchandise from Double-Star Day eligibility.

MISCELLANEOUS

These Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use complement and incorporate by reference the Starbucks Card Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between the Starbucks Card Terms and Conditions and these Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use, the Starbucks Card Terms and Conditions control.

There are no membership fees associated with Starbucks Rewards. Stars accumulated under the program are promotional and have no cash value.

Your Stars, Rewards, registered Starbucks Cards, and your account under Starbucks Rewards are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others, or used by you for any commercial purpose. You may have only one (1) Starbucks Rewards account that is personal to you.

Without notice to you, Starbucks reserves the right to suspend any Starbucks Card and/or terminate your account and/or your participation in Starbucks Rewards if Starbucks determines in its sole discretion that you have violated these Terms of Use, you have more than one (1) account, or that the use of your account is unauthorized, deceptive, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful. Starbucks may, in its sole discretion, suspend, cancel or combine accounts that appear to be duplicative. In the event that your participation in Starbucks Rewards is terminated, then all accumulated Stars in your account are void.

Without notice to you, Starbucks also reserves the right to “unregister” and make ineligible for the Starbucks Rewards program any Starbucks Card or account that has been inactive for two (2) consecutive years. Inactive is defined as no Stars earned. In the event that your Starbucks Card or account is unregistered or rendered inactive, then all accumulated Stars in your account are void.

Starbucks reserves the right to terminate, discontinue or cancel the Starbucks Rewards program at any time and in its sole discretion without notice to you.
